This new wizard gallery uses an “Image Sphere” to display thumbnail images. Once an image is selected, the slide show starts from the nominated image. Moving the mouse cursor to and from the center of the stage will cause the “Image Sphere” to appear or dissapear. The new gallery is supplied free of charge to SWiSH Max3 and SWiSH miniMax3 users. The “Image Sphere” is based on the WordSphere component discussed elsewhere in this blog.

The gallery makes use of the Image Loader component to streamline the loading of the selected images.

Captions and Comments associated with each of the images can optionally be displayed in the Image Sphere and also as a title for the currently displayed image. When the caption / comment is displayed with the image, it is surrounded by a “halo” so that the text will be visible on any colored background.

The HiFi project template is one of the more popular free sample templates that is distributed with SWiSH Max3. Although feedback has been positive, we have received a number of requests to increase the number of sections. The discussion below shows how to edit the supplied template to add an additional section. You could repeat this process a number of times to add even more sections.

Vista users will be aware of the sidebar and the gadgets that it can contain. Although the sidebar has been dismissed by many as a hog of screen real estate, I personally think it is quite useful. I suspect that most SWiSH’ers are not aware of how easy it is to make great looking sidebar gadgets using SWiSH Max2 or SWiSH miniMax2.
